- Ile Saint Honorat: departure 9 a.m. - return 1 p.m. on Thursday morning. Self-guided tour of the island.
This island is the smallest, it is covered with a forest of Aleppo pines, umbrella pines, eucalyptus and cypresses. It is 1.5 km long and 400 metres wide.
Marvel at its turquoise blue coves and enjoy this moment of relaxation as far away as possible from the bay of Cannes. The island of Saint Honorat has had a monastic vocation since 410. It is home to the monastery of Lérins. To this day the island is occupied by about twenty monks, who cultivate vines and raise wine, as well as lavender, orange trees, vegetables, they harvest honey and make a liqueur based on aromatic plants called Lérina.
At the end of the 4th century, Saint-Honorat settled on this island. Legend has it that from that moment on, the island was purged of all its snakes by a tidal wave. As his fame grew, the disciples flocked to him, and the saint founded the monastery which was one of the most illustrious in Christendom. Moreover, some pilgrims, as well as the pope visiting Lérins, went around the island barefoot in order to receive indulgences. Confiscated during the revolution, the abbey was closed. It was not until 1859 that the Abbé de Sénanque re-established Cistercian life.
A tour of the island will take you to its ancient fortified monastery overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. This fortress is classified as a historical monument, it was built in 1073 by Abbot Aldebert to protect the monks against invasions from the sea and Saracen pirates responsible for many massacres in the 8th century. From the top, you can enjoy a superb view of the sea and the island! A strategic point for our budding photographers!
A protected and preserved territory, this island combines tranquility and a paradisiacal atmosphere. The panorama is incredible!
After about 1 hour stopover, take the boat back to the Pointe de l'Aiguille in Théoule-sur-Mer, to sail along the creeks of the Corniche d'Or with its red rocks, the calanques of Anthéor and Barthelemy, the hamlets of Trayas and Agay, the islet of the Vieilles, and the Ile d'Or, surmounted by the Cap Roux, the Pic de l'Ours, Mont Vinaigre, the highest point of the Esterel massif.
If you have had the chance to admire the creeks on the land side, you will enjoy discovering them from a completely different angle on the sea side.
Your boat will get as close as possible to the shoreline and take you where the big boats can't. Close to the coast, you will discover in the red rocks the faults sculpted by erosion, secret coves accessible only by boat.
Cool off under the sun of the Côte d'Azur with a cold drink during an anchorage if the weather permits, during which you will have the opportunity to dive, indulge in snorkeling to discover the seabed in the clear waters of the Côte d'Or (mask and snorkel will be loaned to you). Let your captain choose the wild cove home to fish, seagrass beds, and perhaps sea caves. You will approach the Ile d'Or from which Hergé was inspired for his famous album 'Tintin and the Black Island'.
This place is beautiful because of its colors and biodiversity.Do not hesitate to ask your captain about the surrounding fauna and flora, as well as the geology of the place, he will be happy to answer you.
